托福考試有關文法部份，Part A是全部未完成的，要應考者在四個答案當中，選擇一個正確的答案，將句子完成且要符合文法規則和整個句子的意義。這些答案有可能是單字，有可能是片語，也有可能是子句。至於它們擺放的位置也許在句子的前段，也許在句子的尾段，或許在句子的中段，通常這些題目有十五題之多。
Part B 是通通已經完成的句子，但是要應考者在整個句子的四個地方，找出哪個地方出了問題，是不符合文法規則呢？還是它們的意義不合乎邏輯呢？一般來說這些題目共有二十五題，每個題目都只有一個地方出了問題，不是單字就是片語，應考者只要指出地方而已不必改正，似乎比較Part A 容易一些些。
講到出題的範圍，真是五花八門千變萬化，Part A加上Part B總共有四十道題目，而應考者要在短短的二十五分鐘之內作答完畢，應考者如何展現功力，就要想想古人所言，「工欲善其事，必先利其器」。
我們所研讀過的英文八大詞類除了驚嘆詞之外，其餘的名詞、動詞、冠詞、形容詞、介詞、連接詞、副詞再加上片語、子句、不定詞、動名詞、分詞和標點符號等等都是出題的內容。我們如何準備？如何充實應考的能力？這就是一門很大的功課。
